New Use of an Absorbable Adhesion Barrier (INTERCEED) for Temporary Diverting Ileostomy in Minimally Invasive Rectal Surgery

چکیده

Abstract Objectives Sometimes, severe adhesion occurs between the rectus abdominis muscle and ileal intestinal limbs after temporary diverting ileostomy. This can make ileostomy reversal difficult. The aim of present study is to assess whether absorbable barrier made oxidized regenerated cellulose (INTERCEED) could contribute improved surgical outcomes in stoma reversal. Methods was a single-institutional retrospective study. A total 36 consecutive patients who underwent by single surgeon were retrospectively reviewed. INTERCEED inserted at time creation 12 patients. Surgical compared treated with without INTERCEED. Results degree formation muscles, operating time, estimated blood loss significantly reduced those conventional approach. None group had postoperative complications initial surgery Conclusions suitable for insertion muscles because its softness flexibility. use contributes formation, operative patients, further research needed confirm our results.

Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery for Rectal Lesions

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) has emerged as an alternative to transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM). The authors report their experience with TAMIS for the treatment of mid and high rectal tumors. METHODS From November 2011 through May 2016, 31 patients (21 females, 68%), with a median age of 65 years who underwent single-port TAMIS were prospective...

[Morbidity and mortality associated with diverting ileostomy closures in rectal cancer surgery].

INTRODUCTION Derivative ileostomies are frequently performed to protect low anastomosis. The closure of the ileostomy has shown, under some circumstances, high associated mortality/morbidity rates. This study attempts to quantify the morbidity and mortality associated with ileostomy closure in rectal neoplasm patients and to determine if the length of time between the procedure of construction ...

Morbidity and mortality of temporary diverting ileostomies in rectal cancer surgery.

INTRODUCTION A temporary diverting ileostomy is frequently used to reduce the consequences of a distal anastomotic leakage after total mesorectal excision in rectal cancer surgery. This surgical technique is associated with high morbidity and a not negligible mortality. The aim of this study is to evaluate the morbidity and mortality rate associated with an ileostomy and its posterior closure. ...

Minimally invasive radio-guided surgery for hyperparathyroidism: an experience with Tc-99m Sestamibi

Introduction: Radio-guided parathyroid surgery along with other minimally invasive surgeries constitutes the main surgical treatment procedures for different kinds of hyperparathyroidism.  In this article we have reported our experience of radio-guided parathyroid surgery using Tc-99m sestamibi. Methods: Ten patients with hyperparathyroidism included in our study. ...

Surgical specimen extraction via a prophylactic ileostomy procedure: A minimally invasive technique for laparoscopic rectal cancer surgery

AIM To retrospectively evaluate the safety and feasibility of surgical specimen extraction via a prophylactic ileostomy procedure in patient with rectal cancer. METHODS We systematically reviewed 331 consecutive patients who underwent laparoscopic anterior resection for rectal cancer and prophylactic ileostomy in our institution from June 2010 to October 2016, including 155 patients who under...
